Some things go hand in hand - your support and our careCaring for patients with life-limiting illnesses means that we see people through particularly difficult times. Our Hospice services include an in-patient unit, a Day Hospice and the provision of specialist support and care for around 130 patients in their own homes at any one time. All our patients and their families deserve our professional care and love but we are reliant upon your support to help us meet their needs. Providing our Hospice services free to our patients and their loved ones costs more than 1.4 million every year and, contrary to what many people think, we only receive about 15% of our funding from the Government. This means that we have to raise 4,000 every day from charitable donations and fundraising activities. We have made a commitment to our communities - to be here when you need us. Sacha Thompson's father Jim was cared for by St Peter & St James until he died in July 2008. Her story describes the difference that our care made during Jim's illness. Sacha's words express how so many of our dedicated supporters feel. Please take a few moments to read them and consider whether you can help us to meet our commitment to provide that care for others by joining our new monthly-giving scheme 'Partners in Care'. |

Sacha's Story | ||
"What an amazing place St Peter & St James Hospice is - they cared for my Dad while he was fighting cancer. He only spent a few days as an in-patient there because they made his wish come true by caring for him at home with us during his last days. The few days he spent at the Hospice were great; the staff were so kind and made us feel at home, even allowing us to take the family dog to his room. My Dad enjoyed his time there and said it was like a 5-star hotel. That made it easier for us, knowing that he was happy to be cared for there. His final days at home were under the care of a team of nurses who worked very closely with us, making sure we had everything we needed to look after him. It was a relief for us to know that we had done everything he wanted. |

"The few days he spent at the Hospice were great; the staff were so kind and made us feel at home"My family and I will be working very closely with St Peter & St James in the future to help them raise money and make it possible for other families to experience the wonderful care and love that we received from such a truly fantastic place." Why Partners in Care?If you are able to give regularly as a Partner in Care you will be helping us to plan, sustain and expand the professional help and care we offer to our patients and their families: we know there are many others who need our help. By regularly giving the same amount of money you might spend on a magazine or a bunch of flowers, we can continue to offer our services to others like Sacha and Jim.
