In-Patient Unit

People are admitted for a period of symptom control, rehabilitation and ongoing management of their chronic condition and terminal care. The aim is to encourage, and enable the patient to live to their full potential, even when illness cannot be cured.

Keeping up to date with developements

Our patients are offered
Regular Respite Care for up to two weeks at a time, to give both the patients and their carers a regular break. This enables the patient to stay at home for -as long as possible if that is their wish.

Rehabilitation is offered to patients who need help with their mobility problems.

Continuing Care is provided to give support and regular reassessment of needs to individuals with difficulties associated with life limiting disease and other physical diseases of those people who are unable to sustain an independent life in the community.

Terminal Care is there for those who have a high need for specialist nursing and medical care and may choose to spend their last days at the Hospice.

Counselling is offered to families during a patient's illness and their bereavement for as long as it is needed. There is initial support given by the nursing staff before and at the time of death which is continued and developed by trained bereavement counsellors.

Therapies such as Aromatherapy, reflexology and physiotherapy are available to all our patients.

Chaplaincy the team offer help to everyone, regardless of whether or not they have a formal belief. Communion is offered in the chapel once a week as well as regular memorial services for relatives and friends.

Welfare Support is offered to patients and carers at home, within the Hospice and Continuing Care Centre, and the Day Centre. The Welfare officer advises on a range of practical issues, including benefits, home care support, financial help and advice on making a will.
