MESSAGE FROM GRAHAM ELLLS.
Today, I went to see my friends in the day room at the hospice where I am a volunteer (St Peter + St James, Wivelsfield), which curiously enough started out as a donkey sanctuary. I am always uplifted by the love and warm greetings I receive from both patients and staff, some patients sit quietly as if in reflection but preparation for the journey to come to the next level of existence, some like to chatter and others rest.
As I sit and talk to them sending them my love and healing energy, discussing times past and present I am always moved by their bravery and courage in the acceptance of the inevitable and the humbling effect it has on me, and sometime when I get too "up myself" I think of these lovely brave people and now at this point they know that all that matters is love and I feel truly humble in their presence.
Love of their friends, family and partners, Love from the staff and volunteers. Yes, it is sad when one of these dear friends leave us, especially for the family, and many a time I have seen members of staff cry and I too have shed a tear. But when we think of what these dear people have left us all, their love and memory and the times we spent together whatever the time span, then I know because of them the motto over the hospice reception is right,"A lot of living goes on here".
I would change one word of that, "A lot of loving goes on here".
In Humility and Love,
Graham.xx
