We  are recruiting for the following posts:-

Staff Nurse (Permanent and Bank Contracts)

£22,086-£26,175 p.a. (depending on experience), plus shift enhancements.

As a qualified RGN Staff Nurse you will also have experience or an interest in palliative care and care of the elderly.

Reporting to the Head of Nursing you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of a named group of patients and ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with the NMC Guidelines’ Standards for Records and Record Keeping. You will also support the Sister in Charge of Nursing in the delivery of a high quality and cost effective service of patient care.

Responsibilities will include you working as a member of the ward team and supervising the nursing practice of junior members of staff. You will participate in ensuring patients are involved in all aspects of their care, and also that partners, friends and relatives are involved in care in accordance with the patient’s wishes.

You will treat each patient with dignity, respect and understanding, in accordance with the philosophy of St Peter and St James. You will be aware of unit procedures and policies and ensure they are carried out safely in accordance with agreed policies. With your excellent communication skills you will liaise with all patients, their families and hospice staff and comply with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct for Nurses, Health Visitors and Midwives at all times.

Personal objectives will be agreed between yourself and the Team Leader and you will be responsible for maintaining your own professional development. This may result in the need for you to attend training courses from time to time, some of which will be mandatory.

Both full time (37.5 hrs) and part time contracts will be considered for this role.

Shifts available include: early, late, twilight and night shifts.

Due to our location you must have your own transport.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the hospice for a Head of Finance. Qualified to ACCA/CIMA/ACA standard, you’ll be familiar with FRS 102 and have experience of using Sage

You’ll provide strong financial management, working hands-on to deliver an effective service to the hospice and its trading company. Your previous experience will support you to develop and implement innovation, change and best practice as well as manage a small team effectively.

The successful candidate should also have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft package, be flexible, be an excellent communicator and team player and have an eye for detail.

Charity Shop Manager – Haywards Heath

£17,395.00 p.a. (37.5 hrs per week over 5 days including some Saturdays).  

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Retail Team of St Peter & St James Hospice Shops Ltd.

We are looking to recruit a new full time Charity Shop Manager to work at our popular shop in Haywards Heath.

If you are a self-motivated individual with a commitment to turning donations into vital funds, which enable us to provide exceptional care for our patients, then we would love to hear from you.

This is more than an ordinary retail opportunity. In this role you can combine your passion for fashion and retail and your commitment to making a difference, which will give you a unique sense of job satisfaction!

Preferably with good Charity Shop management experience you will have plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, a flair for display and a drive to reach and exceed your sales targets. Together with your Assistant Shop Manager you will also be able to line manage and work with our volunteers and have a focus on providing exceptional customer service.

You will need to have good IT skills to include email, Word and Excel, be flexible, be a people person and happy to go the extra mile.

As our shops raise funds for our Hospice Care, it is vital that they are performing at their best. We are therefore looking for a dedicated individual with the passion and energy to maintain these high standards.

We are looking to recruit an additional Housekeeping Assistant to join our Housekeeping Team.

You will mainly be working on your own, vacuuming and dusting the main office areas of the Hospice. This also includes the cleaning and mopping of the toilet facilities and emptying bins etc.

We are looking for a reliable and hard working individual who will go the extra mile to get the job done to a high standard.

St Peter & St James is looking to recruit enthusiastic doctors to join the on-call service supporting our inpatient unit out of hours.

We have a 14-bed unit providing care for patients with complex specialist palliative care and end of life care needs.

We are looking to expand our team of specialty doctors providing out of hours support for evenings and weekends, as part of an on-call service backed up by consultants in Palliative Medicine.

Major Donor Fundraiser – North Chailey

£30,909.00, 37.5 hrs per hour, 9am-5pm Mon-Fri (4 days per week would also be considered)

We have an opportunity for an experienced Major Donor Fundraiser to join our successful fundraising team.

Within this role the post holder will be responsible for generating the voluntary income required to deliver our exception care at our Hospice. They will drive growth of the major donor income to meet new performance targets as well as driving continuous improvement in the quality of key major donor care by developing long term partnerships with all key stakeholders.

Alongside the Head of Fundraising they will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our major donor fundraising strategy. They will be able to identify and manage a portfolio of existing major donors and new prospects and personally secure donations from prospects and donors, working with colleagues and volunteers as required. Strong leadership in major donor fundraising across the hospice and wider community is also required whilst offering support and leadership to our network of support groups.

With proven fundraising experience the post holder will have excellent communication and customer service skills together with a good level of computer and office skills.

Equine Assistant – North Chailey

£7.50 per hour, 1.5 hours per week between 4pm and 7pm Thursdays and Fridays

We are looking to recruit an additional Equine Assistant to care for our resident donkeys, Dylan and Dudley.

You will have equine experience and be competent and confident in providing equine care which includes care of their hooves, administering eye ointments if required, worming treatments and following Farrier/Vet instructions as needed. Duties also include feeding the donkeys and mucking out their stable and yard area.

Events & Community Fundraiser – North Chailey

£22,424.00 p.a. , 37.5 hrs per hour, 9am-5pm Mon-Fri

We have an opportunity for an experienced Events & Community Fundraiser to join our successful community fundraising team.

Your role will include initiating, building, developing and managing fundraising relationships with new and existing supporters in the community to maximise and sustain income through community fundraising.

Reporting to the Events & Community Manager you will develop and deliver compelling fundraising activities for these groups to participate in including following up approaches on the phone and face to face to maximise income in order to reach agreed income targets. This includes working on a portfolio of exciting challenge events.

You will also undertake research in order to maximise fundraising opportunities, identifying possible targets, making appropriate fundraising approaches and all necessary follow-up. Responding to enquiries from supporters wishing to find out more about fundraising for the hospice in the community is also a main element of the role.

Using your exceptional customer service skills you will represent the hospice at all events, identify potential corporate partners to match them to relevant hospice fundraising products, and securing auction items, raffle prizes and additional gifts in kind from relevant organisations.

Preferably with fundraising experience or knowledge of how local fundraising processes work you will have excellent communication and customer service skills together with a good level of computer and office skills.
