Join us beneath the stars as we take a walk to remember this September
Our much-loved Star Walk, sponsored by Lloyd’s, is back…With a makeover! Enjoy a 4km sponsored stroll though Wakehurst’s beautiful botanic gardens, and add to a stunning sea of glistening lanterns as you pause halfway to remember and celebrate the people you love.
When? Saturday 9th September, setting off at 7pm. You can arrive from 5:30pm onwards.
How much is it? Entry is £18. Under 16s walk for just £5! Once you’re registered, we’ll post you a lantern to decorate and personalise ahead of the event.
Advance registration will finish on the 6th September, thereafter you will be able to register on the night at the event. On the night registration will cost £25 for an adult and £7 for under 16’s.
What will happen on the night? When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with great music from our friends at More Radio, who will also be talking to some of our patients and their loved ones, so you can hear about the amazing difference your support makes. You’ll be invited to join us for a team warm up, and at 7pm, you’ll set off with friends and family on a walk through Wakehurst’s spectacular grounds. At the halfway point, in the beautiful Southern Hemisphere Garden, you can place your shining lantern amongst hundreds of others and take a moment to reflect and remember.
Do I have to walk in memory of someone? We wanted to make the event extra special for the families and friends of those we have cared for, but we’d love to have you there whether or not you’re walking in memory of a loved one. You can walk for fun, fitness, or simply to support your local hospice. We’re excited to bring our wonderful community together!
Should I raise sponsorship? How much? Yes please! All of the money we raise on the night will help our nurses be there for those who need us. We want this to be our most successful hospice event ever, so we’d love it if you could try and raise £100! Walkers who hit this target will be entered into a prize draw to name their very own star!
